In a change to normal proceedings, this year we will not be starting the season with a game against Pembury CC. Instead we will be hosting an intra-club 20/20 game on the Common.
The idea behind this change is to create an opportunity at the beginning of the season where we can come together as a club with the intention that this event will reach out to families and friends and see them come along to support and enjoy themselves.
As it is a shortened format of the game, there will be no match teas, but there will be refreshments in the form of tea and cakes and we will also stock the fridge with some beers, ciders and wine.
As a number of you have children we will be looking at having things to keep them entertained. For those with children not yet back from uni, please do feel welcome to come along to support the Club in their absence.
What is needed
So far we are a little short of the full 22 players. Players- please show your support by updating your availability on the website. If you can't remember your password, please contact me.
We also need some volunteers to bring cakes. These can be shop bought or home made. As a sufferer of cake deficiency, I am happy to judge a 'bake off' if people are interested. Again contact me if you are wanting to bring cakes.
We also need people to come along and show their support. 20/20 games only last about 21/2 hours, so it would be great to see you up there, even if only for part of it.
Conclusion of the game
For those still about, we will be looking to put some of the match fees from the game to good use in supporting one of our local pubs (and lining our stomachs).
We will also hold a draw for the 150 Club. For those not signed up to the 150 Club scheme, it will be an opportunity to join up to something which gives you a chance each month of winning £100 with any profits going to club developments: all for the princely sum of £24 per square per year!!
I am hopeful that each of you will make every effort to come along and either play or support this event and I look forward to catching up with you.
Thanks,
David
