We introduced a women's section in spring 2023, with pretty much all of the women who joined having no previous cricketing experience at all. However on Friday evenings on Southborough common, we began to learn the basics and were soon having practice matches and by mid July were taking on our first competitive fixture. Throughout the summer we played games on Thursday and Friday evenings against local teams including Penshurst and Bells Yew Green, and we got a few wins under our belt.
We have a range of ages in the squad, from teenagers to 50+ and the emphasis is absolutely on having fun and team spirit.
We are very keen to recruit new players and no experience is necessary. We will begin the 2023 season on Friday 5 May training at Southborough Common from 6-7.30pm. We hope to arrange more matches and then have a series of festivals on Sunday afternoons.
