Countdown to the season

03 Apr 2018

It might not feel like it weather-wise, but we are fast approaching the start of the season. Here's a list of things to help ease us into the season:

Indoor training

Tomorrow's training between 7-8pm at Judd is the final scheduled session, so please do come along. These have been much better attended than previous years: so far 28 players have taken the opportunity but with 40 guys playing last year, there are others that would benefit from turning out, so if you can make it tomorrow that would be great.  Also keep an eye out as we are looking to see if we can extend the programme to hold a training session next Wednesday (11 April), but getting hold of someone at the school is a challenge (what with it being the school holidays).

Work Parties

These are taking place on the next two Saturdays (7th and 14th April).  Please arrive to start from 10am. The main tasks are rolling the batting cage back over from Meadows School; setting up the boundary netting system; painting the shutters/brickwork on the verandah; staining the wood exterior; and, generally tidying and cleaning the pavilion. The more people we have to help, the less time it will take, so do please try and give some time over these Saturdays.

First Game

As with the previous two seasons, we open with our intra-club T20.  We currently have 14 players who are showing as being available to play that game. Ideally, we want to play 11 vs 11 and with the shortened format, it's a nice way of easing yourselves into the season without taking too much time.  For those wanting to get some more match practice in before the season, we are also looking at a fixture for the Sunday which will be 40 over format.

Membership subscription

You will shortly be receiving an email from the membership secretary setting out details of how much the subscriptions are this year and how to pay. For those that are new to the club or returning this season (i.e. were not a paid up playing member last season), upon payment of your sub (which includes those setting up payment by installments) your details will be passed onto our club shop supplier (Kent Cricket Direct) as you will be eligible for a playing shirt (value of £25) as part of your sub.  Ideally we want the shirts to be sorted by the start of the season, so please pay quickly and then get into the shop to sort out your shirt requirements.

Club Shop

This is now up and running.  Please pop into Kent Cricket Direct to look at the kit and hopefully order some of the clothing on offer.

Thanks and here's to a brilliant season for all of you and for the club.
