Sad news - Mike Rusbridge, Club President

31 May 2015

It is with immense sadness that Southborough Cricket Club announces the death of our Club President, Mike Rusbridge, who passed away on Friday 29 May at Hospice in the Weald.

Mike became the Club’s President at the AGM in December 2009, although he had already played an important part in 2008 with our successful bid to the Borough Council for a major grant for the new roof on the pavilion.

Mike was hugely honoured to be asked to be our President and took a very active interest in the Club despite his many other activities in local government.  He was particularly helpful in providing advice and contacts about a County Council grant for a portable practice net, and also during months of discussion concerning the possible siting and design of a replacement pavilion.

Mike could be relied upon to have a genial presence at the Club’s annual dinners, with his wife Chris, and to preside at AGMs.  His family bakers became one of the Club’s sponsors and fielded a team on the annual Sponsors’ Day.

His warm and sincere personality will be greatly missed.  Our thoughts are with his family at this difficult time.
